defuntland has been such a gemstone for me to discover during lockdown and just gives me some time to imagine being in these amazing displays and rides. i could get sad that i'll never see them, but even with global pandemic aside i'll probably never get to visit disney lol so this is fun for me

I'm surprised you didn't mention the spiritual successor to Inner Space, the Body Wars motion simulator ride at Epcot, which combined the technology of Star Tours with the shrinking narrative and edutainment concept from Inner Space.

Hmm, it's too bad the movie Innerspace was a Warner Brother's property. It seems like a perfect fin to replace the ride. That or Fantastic Voyage (a Fox property).

"Oh neat! Fun trivia about an old theme park ride!" *Defunctland takes us to a dark place with the US's crimes against humanity* "Oh God. Yeah. That was definitely sombering..." Thank you Defunctland for not being afraid to talk about what really happened. Your tone of voice conveys exasperation, while also understanding the weight behind each thing that takes place even on the darkest points of our timeline.

The best children's show ever and it was of African/Black culture. I was a stay-at-home mom of 3 back then. Now they're all grown. The show would get them soooo excited as babies and to talk about the show now they vaguely remember, but the theme song is forever remembered. Thanky Thanky 😊

It’s worth noting that the deciding vote in the US Supreme Court’s landmark decision to allow Monsanto (and consequently, other corporations as well) to _patent genetic sequences_ (!!!) was cast by… Justice Clarence Thomas, former chief counsel to Monsanto, who - despite the fact that any lower court would’ve _required_ any judge with such a clear conflict of interest to recuse themselves - simply refused to recuse himself from the case. Monsanto: as evil now as always!

Busch Gardens has had many fine rides. Although it wasn't the fastest or tallest roller coaster, the Big Bad Wolf really was something special. The suspended aspect was unique for most theme park guests, especially during the first decade or more of it's run... the atmosphere and theming was world-class... and for me it was always my favorite of the park. My favorite memory of this roller coaster, and any other for that matter: after years of riding the Big Bad Wolf, I rode it once at night, and the operators decided to turn off ALL of the track and theme lighting. It was like riding a roller coaster blind-folded, but getting just the faintest glimpses of trees and scenery you thought for sure you were going to run into. Scary? Yeah... but fun as hell.

The chemical warfare was seriously evil even before the health issues came to life. It was an active effort to destroy a people's way of life and forever change the landscape of the world all in an effort to "win" and unwinnable war based entirely off the profits of war and jingoistic idealism. Even under the best circumstances you can give it was a humanitarian disaster in the making.

I grew up riding this, and was a frequent Disneyland visitor (with several Walt Disney World trips since 1999). Usually I expect to learn nothing that I didn't already know when people post videos about the history of attractions, but I actually didn't know a lot of what you presented here. Well done! You're going to end up giving Martin's Vids a run for their money if you keep this up.

I *LOVED* Adventure Thru Inner Space. I still miss it to this day. Have to say I think now it was the last truly interesting ride I really enjoyed at Disneyland (I'm not old enough to remember Flight to the Moon (and then Flight to Mars). Really, all the rides at Disneyland was your typical roller coaster, interior and exterior. Even Star Tours, which took Inner Space's place, was the same. It became same old, same old. Actually, as I got older, I gradually lost interest in pretty much everything at Disneyland, preferring Knotts, mostly because you could enjoy Knotts without the rides. You can't really say that about Disneyland. The rides are the reason Disneyland exists. But I would come back in a minute if Disneyland would recreate Inner Space in some fashion.

Christ, I hate when beloved parks close down. I know how it feels, I lost my home park more than 25 years ago due to the owners wanting to expand, thereby losing the cozy, neighborhood charm that had been there for more than a century. Astroworld looked like a fun, classy park. Though I’ve never been there, I mourn with you who knew it. I can relate.

when i was 12 i heard about adventure thru inner space for the first time and was blown away. i had never thought about how a whole attraction could be completely gone-- not only in florida, not renovated-- gone. i was obsessed with finding out more about it, wanted to ride it myself, but could of course only find a couple old home movies. (these were the dark days, pre-defunctland). i'm grateful for the great video as always, but also for the satisfying conclusion to a 7th-grade interest.

. Somewhere in the middle of the video I was thinking....why isn't this the E.P.C.O.T. we eventually got. Then as the video entered the end phase I started saying, does anyone else watching this find the E.P.C.O.T. being planed to strangely remind them of Academy City (from Magical Index and Scientific Railgun fame), except with regular residents instead of simply students?

They're literally trying to be released of responsibility for peddling a version of agent orange that's been used en mass around the US(and probably the world). They're trying to pay cancer riddled people off. They don't care about the ramifications of their mass poisoning of people and the homes and neighborhoods.
