A lions fan here who has watched almost every Stafford game in his lions career. Matt Stafford is not a better athlete..... than golf. He is slower running and hangs on to the ball too long, commits too many pick 6s in critical close games, can’t beat teams with winning records, and never won a single playoff game. He had a chance to beat the cowboys in the playoffs with a good D and blew it.

I live in Michigan. I've watched almost all of Stafford's games. He's extraordinary. The arm. The perseverance. The grit. He just didn't have the team. He does now. Many will be surprised by how good he is. I won't be.

I think you have the day wrong, Colin. I mean, sure you’re right about the 9ers vs Rams thing and the fact that the Rams haven’t beaten the 9ers in the past two years certainly plays a part. But I think the day that sealed Goff’s fate in L.A. was that horrendous pick he threw against the Seahawks on Dec. 27th. That pick was a microcosm of what Goff has become in the past two years and it cost the Rams the NFC West. I believe that was the moment the definitive we need to move on from this guy moment for McVay.

It also didn't help that coaches, team members and fans saw the Ram's HOF D lineman Donald crying after the Green Bay loss. That hurt seeing that, and it got me to thinking: How many years does this transcendant player have to deal with sub-par QB play in his prime? The Rams gave Goff a punishing defense this season, that plays together and he came out preppy and soft (mentallly "Soft Goff"), and played scared in the Supebowl and in every game since. He has the yips and that's why he fumbles so damn much and has errant throws. He cannot take the punishment required to be truly great! Goff has actually regressed tremendously over the past three seasons, leading the league in giveaways and not correcting his errors or mindset; not getting a sports phycologist to get himself focused and straight to live up to his contract and the franchise trust. And, once Gurly's injuries saw his skills diminish, it exposed Goff as the weakest link on a championship roster. McVay has been more loyal than Goff's play ever deserved.

Brady just had a way of elevating a whole team, and players. Mahomes is awesome, but he also has an awesome team. Not saying Brady never had good teams, but it was clear he could take an average player and make a great player out of him.
