His whole discussion about the financialization of everything is amazing the way I look at it in a nuanced way is we are entering the age where our ability to capture the value we create is happening..In the past, the institutional structure made it so oligopolies made sense in the "free market" structure and there was no medium for the everyday individuals to capture their value creation..ownership is everything..the capturing of value always accrued to the top the owners..employees are paid at the wholesale value in relation the value they create... now the playing field can be equalized as everything can be tracked people can capture the value they create the abundance can grow together even better! You still get the synergies but the dividing of that excess creation can become just in this "new world" Equal access, equal quality but more so creating network connection and access in all history access to a network and information and resources created disparity..breakdown of roadblock!!

Women outlive men because they are more risk averse and the data reveals deaths across the age spectrum. Its a problem with averages. For example, most of the increase in the average life span has been gained at the left tail as adolescent and maternal mortality has decreased by a huge number. We are great at saving lives in an emergency, and not as great as we think we are at actually extending life.

The architecture example is bunk if we are to believe that how we generate energy will become carbon neutral. Quite simply, in the long run combating climate change is 100% about building carbon free energy generation and not reducing energy consumption. Growth and energy consumption go hand in hand.

I’m currently at 51:59, and I’m in architecture. I highly disagree with his statement on architecture losing value because the European cultures highly value their historical/cultural buildings. Moreover, within these buildings they do not require the hvac/plumbing that our contemporary buildings need to achieve, there are often exemptions for historical buildings’ maintenance. As for in Asia, mass copy and pasting happened due to their city building efforts to house many people. Sure, us plebeians live in monotonous stucco buildings, but that was never what architecture is about.

He didn't prefer it. He said it made him said, but thinks it's true. That going all green could cause a decrease in the beautiful architectural sights of cities. Not that he wants that. I also would love to keep the architecture, so let's aim for both. Cheers

@chamanth, it’s really not about age or which generation u belong to. It’s a decision each one takes to either recondition himself from society and family or not. And as u rightly said billions don’t matter and most billionaires were not able to do that because they always felt there is something they had to prove and of course it’s all mind games... much love

Confident? Yes! Humble? Not so much. Being honest about his past is not being humble, it just what it is, the truth. You will often see him bragging how he outperforms Buffett and Chanos in his other interviews so that is far from him being humble. Is that a negative of Chamath? Absolutely not. It is again what it is, the truth.

Totally agree. He lost credibility with me after he said that the outcome was going to be the same regardless of who wins the election. There are so many differences between the candidates and the policies that will be implemented. Whether one is Democrat or Republican, that statement reflects a very poor understanding of current events in the US. He speaks well and with conviction, but that just allows him to bluff people (and maybe even himself) about his actual understanding and knowledge.

The spin on steve jobs wow! Steve had great taste and intuition and he channelled it into products. But he was a dark and flawed assh*ole. Assh*oles can feel wow; doesn't mean they were not so mean and cruel to people in their life. One thing I learned is to accept life and reality as is w.o. sugar coating and w.o. intellectualizing and theorizing which is basically delusion which many successful people (also) have. Lot of these insanely successful people are plain assholes. It is always about them. It is never about greater good. They are so narcissistic and don't realize it. Their concept of love is also fake. It's their elaborate mask that they weave and charm the world and followers. These people are not leaders. These are not wise. Don't consume their sh*t. Not healthy. Don't get into this trap. The guest still has issues to sort. His wisdom is fake. He is not there yet. I wish him good luck , but I am not buying into this mask. I won't be around this guy. His talk is trying to be honest and less worse than so many sleazeballs.

I work with people who feel like imposters. There's a book that explains the cause of Imposter syndrome really well and also how to treat it, or manage it. Intellectuals, like Chamath, find it difficult to overcome because they can't think their way out. They are used to their intellect solving all of their problems, but it won't solve feeling like an imposter.

The US has been run by the same person since Truman - he has simply taken on a new name each 4 or 8 years; internally during some 4-year blocks he treats the bottom tier of US society with a demeaning welfare check, other times he tries to teach them to fish for themselves - neither is carried through to be useful. Externally, using the army-US$ as props , America has treated the rest of the world excluding her partners the EU and Japan as slave labour - resource suppliers . All Covid has done is make the US realise that although they've gotten extraordinarily wealthy (the poorest are Middle Class in Africa) and can boast having had the (fraudulently obtained - unworked for) money and leisure time to develop the best universities social theory doesn't work longterm. It especially becomes a problem when the South American bloc declares 'enough' and the EurAsians start reaching for the reins. If it wasn't Covid it would have been a debt explosion likely caused by the other money making non-work activity of extended 'banking' operations .

From the very first time I saw him being interviewed he struck me as someone who just told it how he believed it to be. Doesn't suffer fools gladly and calls others out on their bullshit. First time I'd ever heard any major investor speak that way. It's very refreshing. The fact that he's generally been proven to be spot on every time doesn't hurt either. I pay much more attention to him than almost every other investor these days. I'd also just love to sit down and chat with him. He seems a very interesting man to talk to.

Billion Dollar Income Potential in Ruvol I have invented a Board Game [still unpublished] that is guaranteed to be far more challenging and exciting to play than CHESS. I called it “RUVOL.” Over time, Ruvol will surpass chess as the “Number One Board Game in the World.” Why am I so sure about this? Because I am an avid chess player myself. I found chess to be so repetitive that any clever player could easily master the moves to a point they could even play against opponents blindfolded. It is for this reason I invented a game where every game is always a new challenge and exciting to play. Since Ruvol is yet “unpublished,” I am extra careful in disclosing fully how it is exactly played, lest it might be “plagiarized.” The “BEST PREVIEW” I can give, more than enough to appreciate how the game is played, is as follows: 1. Ruvol is almost somewhat played like chess. [I invented Ruvol primarily to give chess a direct “apple-to-apple” competition.] 2. Like chess, Ruvol is a board game for two players. 3. If the chess board is square in shape containing 64 squares in all, the Ruvol board is rectangular with more number of squares in it. 4. If each chess player has 16 pieces, each Ruvol player has equal number of pieces as well. 5. If each type of chess piece moves in a distinct way, the Ruvol types of pieces move in distinct ways, too. 6. If to win the chess game requires tactical skills or strategic thinking, the more the Ruvol requires of it. 7. If the way to win chess is to checkmate the opponent’s king, the way to win Ruvol is entirely different but far more exciting and challenging. In my Google search, I learned there are around 800 million chess players in the world. These 800 million players comprise the “Total Potential Buyers” of Ruvol across the globe. At an average profit of just US$5 per set, the “Global Income Potential” of Ruvol then is US$4 billion. Assuming only 1% of it will buy each year, the annual global potential sale is US$40M. I AM SELLING MY COPYRIGHT TO RUVOL. Since it entails huge money to produce, distribute, and market Ruvol in global scale which I don’t have, I find it “wiser” to simply sell my copyright. If you are interested to buy my copyright, email me your BEST PRICE OFFER. Or if you know someone who is willing to buy my copyright, you are entitled to a 10% commission. On the other hand, if you have a “much better option” in mind than what I am proposing, I will be happy to know them. Thanks and God bless.
